I’m currently trapped in a frustrating whirlpool of researching flights & baggage allowances – can someone please invent teleportation soon? And when you do, can you send me straight to Monet’s gardens in Giverny?
Giverny is quite possibly the most picturesque place I have ever been, and that’s before you even step into Monet’s gardens – I don’t think I have ever been anywhere so peaceful or beautiful. Have you ever been somewhere and just instantly fallen in love? The house, the garden, the village itself – it honestly felt like a dream; it was everything I had ever imagined in my perfect home.
I’ve always been a huge fan of Monet’s work, and getting this insight into his creative process was like a dream come true – a pastel, flower-filled, sunshine-y dream (this is the kind of place where you’re allowed to make up words, okay?!). It honestly feels like you’ve stepped straight into one of his paintings – Monet planted flowers according to their colours and then let them grow freely, resulting in a whimsical floral wonderland (which, by the way, is totally perfect for twirling and/or skipping in). I don’t know how you can exist in the gardens and not feel a sense of utter peace – they’re large enough that you can lose yourself from the crowds and truly feel like you’ve been transported into another world; a simpler and more peaceful time.
I’ve decided that this is the kind of place I want to live in some day – a beautiful house that still feels like a home, a whimsical garden to get lost in, and a pretty village to explore. All that, and you’re still only an hour away from Paris? Sounds like a dream to me!
